Easy Geranium Combination

by Meghan Klave Filed Under: the archives

So glad you’ve stopped by the blog today! This geranium plant combo is a Twin Cedars Resort tradition. The big red geranium bloom is a classic and we love them!

The easiest plant combination featuring Geraniums, a great sturdy, vibrant summer flower. Very showy blooms that last all summer and into fall! #TheTwinCedars #geraniums #flowers #gardening #redandpurple

Summers seem to always be filled with endless outdoor projects and gardening. I was naive enough to think that I had a lot of flowers at our old house but resort living proves that, not only did I increase the amount of toilets to clean (we really had more than we needed before) but we increased everything else exponentially.

Imagine 5 more kitchens, 7 more bathrooms and enough linens to create laundry most people would drown in. quality soil for geranium

For the easiest, hardly any thinking involved, geranium plant combination you simply need to start with a large pot of good quality soil. These red geranium are iconic Twin Cedars Resort flowers…it simply would not be the resort without them.

I bought these from the local greenhouse. They are luscious, big and bright – vibrant in every way and the absolute best geraniums I’ve ever seen. In order for a planting to last the entire summer you need to follow these steps, but also make sure you start with decent quality plants.

Add a spike or two somewhere in the middle or the back.

I used 2 different trailing plants in this pot for some interest and texture. A vinca vine and a purple bacopa, which is just dazzling next to the vibrant red geranium.

Get everything in it’s place and fill in the holes with potting soil…easy as that!

The Perfect Geranium Plant Combination

All done and lots of growing to do…

Using the tips included here you’re geranium plants will be big and beautiful and will last all summer through fall.

My flowers have never looked so good. The compliments I’ve received this season are so wonderful that I think I’ve finally got my flower routine down. I love getting all the credit for these beauties, but really it takes all of us.

Give your plants some love (and water and sun, based on their preference…good soil, fertilizer…) and watch them grow.

Which brings me to why I’m so humbled. The amazing relationships that have developed and grown because of this immensely beautiful place and one of the best complements that came from one of Bob and my first customers, “this place has the best karma.”

It’s a daily occurrence for us to have visitors, not just resort customers. People who’ve been guests for many years – I’m talking 30 to 40 years – some who just stop in because they “met that older couple several years ago when they stayed on vacation,” and some who are simply friends, people that this family has gotten to know over the many years of living in a small town.

I’m completely humbled by the people – the many guests with their pictures covering our office walls, laughing in a photo, because they are proud of their catch or showing off their large families and the long-time traditions of staying at Twin Cedars.

I’m humbled by the average person that rings the doorbell, just to ask about the couple who used to own this place.

I’m humbled by the friendly person that recognizes my last name – saying “hey are you related to…?” Resulting in my response and a comfortable conversation of playing catch up.

So proud to say we are second generation owners of such a beautiful place with its great karma, wonderful memories and many more to come!

Many of our regular customers now know that Bob and I have bought the resort, but I’m still explaining that the previous owners live just a mile away. I often joke that they will continue to be our mascots and we’ll need to schedule appearances.

My hope…to be even half as good as they are.

The deep lesson to myself…like your flowers, you need to nurture your relationships – you may find that they grow into beautiful, vibrant friendships.

And for pete’s sake get some new gloves 🙂
